My first service learning experience with camp was this past weekend. I enjoyed myself and enjoyed interactions with the kids. For this event we visited the San Antonio Zoo and went through all the exhibits that were wheel chair accessible and even a few that were not. The kids all seemed to enjoy there selves and I got along with the consolers and other volunteers. This experience was not all that new to me. I have a mentally disabled cousin and we love to go shopping and hang out when we can. Some people think that these kids who are in will chairs, are slow or just not completely their are stupid and should be looked at as worthless. At least that is the attitude I have seen some people pay to my cousin. I simply see a person who may be a little different from me but is just as important.
I would recommend CAMP to any one who enjoys hanging out and having fun with teens, young children and adults.
